Cup Day today, not a bad one but a bit chilly and windy. We went to Heronswood in Dromana today, not just to buy stuff but to have a look at Heronswood House. It is old, and interesting to those who like old things, but most of it is of little value to me. Now, if you`re looking at gardens and plants, well, that`s different !
I was hoping to get a pear tree for cross pollination with ours next season but there`s none around at the moment unless we go to an orchardist . Likewise for the apple tree I `d hoped for.
So instead of coming home empty handed I bought a Michelia, an Osmanthus, a Mock Orange and a lemon Thyme. I also got another Lemon but when I got home I realised I`d got the same one as we`ve got, and I need a different variety.
Got my free seeds as well, Beetroot, Thai Basil, Dill and Everlasting Pink daisies.
Yesterday I bought another bale of straw for the potatoes and to mulch the strawberries with.
I harvested the garlic too and fond one huge one, one medium and one small. Have planted the cloves I had been using in the kitchen to see how they go.
The blackbirds are still outside the bedroom window and have now got at least two eggs, probably three by now.
