Well it`s been an exciting time gardenwise this week. Wednesday we went with a gardening group we belong to, to a garden vineyard. It was a beautiful day and the gardens were magnificent. They had been established for about 11 years and were designed with the help of a landscaper I`m sure. A lovely walled garden was crammed with lush healthy shrubs whose colours complemented each other beautifully. I obtained two Plectranthus cuttings, a white one and a pink one. They will look good with the purple one I have growing roots in a jar already.
I ordered all my winter vegie seeds from Eden seeds this week. there are rather a lot of them so i`ll have a bit of work ahead!
I also took the plunge and ordered a greenhouse. Some funds have become available so I though that is what i`d like to spend it on. It`s a fairly big one. 8ft wide x 9ft 8in long x 7ft 4in high. The theory is that you always use the available space but if there`s not enough it`s a bugger!
We have to prepare the area for it by laying crushed rock mixed with mortar down as a floor for the base to stand on. Holes filled with cement will take the stakes that drop down from the base. I`ll probably put concrete slabs down as a finished floor.
It has double sliding doors and two vents in the roof. The panels are polycarbonate on a strong aluminium frame.
So it`s exciting for me. I`ll be able to start my vegie seedlings in there soon !!
I`ve also been looking through the rose catalogues a lot this week. My roses in pots are doing so well it makes me long for more and I plan to make a new flower bed shortly anyway. So I`m having fun choosing the varieties I`d like, mostly hybrid tea roses. I can order them soon and they`ll be delivered bare-rooted in June.
