A Gardening Diary

While we were at Diggers the other day I asked about a cross pollinator for our pear tree. They found the varieties needed in their books but have none in stock this time of year. They said we could go to a nursery not far away where there is a guy who`s really clued up about fruit trees. So today we called in there. No pear trees but the guy recommended that we graft a piece of the right variety on to our tree in August. We thought that a good idea and will give it a try when the time comes.I happened to catch sight of a Lemonade tree there, which I have wanted for a long time, so it followed me home of course!
We also called in to a place that sells all manner of plastic containers and drums and tanks. We came away with 2 drums that hold 200L each, and collected another downpipe diverter as well.
