It`s all been happening here !
Yesterday we hired the rotary hoe and got the new beds started. The hoe churned up the lawn but didn`t go very deep so it had to be done 2 or3 times. David found it harder than expected. I started shovellin out the sand and grass as soon as possible. You never know when it might rain again !
By the end of yesterday I had found the edges of the beds which had been buried by the hoe, and carted quite a lot out down to the bottom of the garden. Discovered a cache of broken bottles, 2 bucketsful, which needed disposal seperately. Also found conduit and piping running across the bed.
Today was more of the same, but I got a lot done until I had to stop about 3.15. Found more glass and another conduit. The heap at the bottom of the garden is getting huge. I keep looing at it thinking about whether to throw some potatoes in it. It`s covering some of the lawn so can`t really stay there. Found out that the council charge $30 per cu mtr to dump landfill and there`s going to be more than that. Plus the cost of the new soil and a brick edging and trailer hire for all this ! Costing me a fortune. Add that to the cost of the roses I`ve already got and I`ve obviously got more money than sense. But not much of either :D
The top 4 pics are day 2, the bottom ones are day 1
