It`s been very hot here today. Got out early (well, fairly early!) and shredded a load of stuff then started the next compost bin. There`s a lot of good material in it including lots of comfrey leaves and horse manure. I decided to cover it this time with an old tarp to keep the moisture in. i`ll get some black plastic next time i`m out which will absorb heat better.
That was yesterday. Today I took all the seedlings out of the greenhouse because it`s like an oven when the sun`s out. They`re all on my little hothouse shelves without a cover on. I found that nearly all my begonia cuttings have struck so I potted them. My lovely indoor palm has been living almost hydraponically for years in a tiny little pot, I inherited it that way. Today I decided to repot it in a large container. I may have killed it, I don`t know.
I filled a wheelie bin full of all the stuff i can`t compost, mostly sticks and willow twigs. It`s good to see the heap of rubbish gone.
Mrs Blackbird has been the proud mother of 2 chicks today. One egg still unhatched but probably will do so tomorrow. I took a photo and they opened their beaks WIDE, as they do!
