What crazy weather we`re having, it`s more like global freezing than global warming! yesterday we had several hailstorms and it was freezing. The noise of the hail on our tin roof was scary. All our water vessels are full and I haven`t had to water for 2 days- or is it three ? I dunno. Frost is forecast for the morning so the little Jacaranda has a dressing gown on. (it`s a sack)
Realised today that Mummy Blackbird built her nest where she did because there`s a cherry tree just a short hop away. Even though we`d put a net over it we busted her twice grabbing fruit through the holes in the net. Quite smart of her to build next to her pantry. So we re-hung the netting using stakes to hold it away from the tree. there`s still a few she can reach but she WONT get them all !!
I have succeeded with this crop of radishes, they are healthy and crisp and tasty. Today we had home grown peas and silverbeet with the lamb chops. Yummy !
I`m a bit concerned about the budgie, I don`t feel any progress is being made with taming him. I know it`s early days yet, but he sat on my finger quite well for the first 3 days, but now he won`t do it at all, and he won`t let me stroke him now either. He spends a lot of time sitting with his back to us and hardly chirps at all. He seems to enjoy emptying his seed pot all over his floor and my floor. Not amusing. Think I`ll give him a few more days and if there`s no improvement I`ll ring the breeder and see if he`ll swap Oscar for a younger one.
