Such a long time since I wrote here, naughty me !!
It was so nice to get all the rain we had at the weekend, it`s made such a difference to the garden. And it`s been great not to carry heavy buckets and watering cans about too. Or get up really early (for me) to use the hose.
The tomatoes are producing well considering the conditions and the green zebras are ripening, i haven`t tasted one yet. We picked all the nectarines (all 12) and they are so flavoursome, i hope to get more next year after a good prune. I think we need to net the blossom as well as the fruit, I saw rosellas nipping off the flowers although it could have been the weird weather too.
Any day now I`ll harvest the plums, they`re big dark red satsumas and I`m really looking forward to them. Not enough for jam making or anything but not too many to eat fresh !
I`ve tip pruned all the fuschias and put compost and straw round them. The bloody birds dig up the compost looking for worms and make the place look a mess.
The big Asian lily has opened today, lovely to look at but their perfume gives me a headache. I made a Summer Pudding with some of the Mulberries , oh yum yum yum.
Pulled up the last of the carrots yesterday and had some with dinner, so sweet and tasty. The strawberries are steadily providing a dessert for us a couple of times a week.
I dug up all the Impatiens from under the treeferns and popped them into pots as they were not flourishing. They`re doing fine now and living on the patio.
Have succeeded in growing a couple of comfrey plants from seed, it took ages and not all seeds germinated. Still, that will be 3 all together which is ample as they get very big I`m told.
This has got nothing to do with gardening but I`ve just been outside to see Comet McNaught. Awesome.
