A hard day in the garden today. I have grubbed out 2 large shrubs that took up nearly all of a bed. I think they may have been planted as a hedge at one time, but others didn't survive. They were close together off to one side of the bed. The tops were easy to cut down and dispose of but OH! those roots! They must go down to China. I exposed them as much as I could by digging around and under them, then I took the pruning saw to them. I haven't finished the second one as I just ran out of oomph. Tomorrow I'll have another go if it's not raining. Then I'll dig in lots of compost and B&B and slow release fert. It will be perfect there for more irises and roses !
I had a good look at the big lemon tree today and found some scale which I've sprayed with pest oil. There's heaps of green fruit on it and plenty more blossom too. The little Lemonade tree is loaded with blossom too and there's a bit of bloom on the lime tree but I won't get excited about that! The lime usually drops its blossom or young fruit when it's very tiny.
