Val`s Obsession

A Gardening Diary

Wednesday, January 31, 2007

I sowed some seeds today, although there`s hot weather forecast for the next few days so maybe not a smart move. However they won`t germinate yet so it`s seedlings that expire in the heat so they should be Ok. I put in Beetroot, Globe and Baby. Silverbeet (not too many ) Spinach and Thai Basil.
The vegie patch is looking miserable now, just a few ratty looking tomatoes, spring onions and carrots. There`s gone-to-seed lettuce and rocket and silverbeet that should be pulled out. When I assemble the compost next they will go in.
The Impatiens in pots are looking good now, I`m so glad I rescued them, there are many more colours than i remember. The rose that was smothered in spider mites is now putting out lots of new growth so that`s good.
Going to a Diggers workshop on Sunday, all about compost and soil and a walk afterwards, should be good and only $5 to members. I know you can read about compost in a million different places but it will be good to see it" live". And you`re never too old to learn a bit more are you ?
