A Gardening Diary

I finally did it. on Saturday I got ruthless with the vegie patch and pulled out all the old stuff. I found some nice little round carrots which I`d forgotten about ! All there is left there now are tomatoes and a couple of small silverbeet that haven`t gone to seed yet. And the raspberry that is popping up all over the place. I`ll put some nourishnent into the soil before I plant anything else there.
Speaking of nourishment I also built a new compost heap on Sat. Lots of straw, grass clippings, kitchen scraps, blood and bone, horse manure and all the old vegies. Also some sawdust, Dynamic lifter and comfrey. Tomorrow I`ll turn it into the next compost bin, hope it has heated up enough. It didn`t feel all that hot yesterday.
Still getting lots of tomatoes and more to come, a feral tomato has lots of big green ones. The plants in the vegie patch are looking tired and scraggy but the tomatoes keep coming. The green zebra has done really well and still looks healthy.
