Flat out again since my last post.
I sprayed the thrips again and cut off a lot of infested buds and blooms. Very upsetting to do. We've had rain now and the thrips are not so easy to find. Could they be gone ?????
I've constructed yet another compost heap and there's enough material to do another one now !. I sorted out the vegie patch today and threw out gone to seed leeks and onions and a couple of Collards that escaped notice on the last throwing out session. Picked 2 mini caulis and another meal of carrots. I planted 2 tomatoes that had been lurking in the rosebed and were quite large. The Rasperry (?) has got a few fruit forming so I will find out whether it is one. Next week when we've had a couple of dry days I'll harvest the garlic and the onions. I'll dig some compost in that area ready for lettuce and capsicums.
The roses are looking good since their spray with Healthy Earth, it makes the leaves glossy.
I fed the strawberries with a cocktail of food and mulched them with pine needles from the cedar trees out the front. They look good.
The daisies are starting to look past it now, I trimmed a few but a lot more will be done soon. I pulled out a lot of poppies too which were overcrowding the roses in the side bed and some which were never going to be any good because they were too thick.
I potted up the new roses, Altissimo, Graham Thomas and the 2 Banksia roses. Keep changing my mind where I'm going to put the climbers. They'll be OK where they are for a while.
I'm thrilled with the Peony, it's a pretty pink and full blown now. My first success with one and much sooner than I expected too.
At a standstill with the dripline plans as the plumber we left the garden plan with hasn't had time to look at it yet. It's a bit frustrating because I need to mulch very soon and I was hoping to do the watering system first. Ah well.
